Recommended Parts

Affiliate disclosure: Some links on this page are Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through them, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only list what I actually use in my own work.

This is the shelf behind the tune-up work I do: max the RAM, put the system on an SSD, blow the dust out so it runs cool. Nothing fancy — just the parts that make an office machine feel new again.

RAM Upgrades

Max the RAM. Fill every slot the board gives you — it’s the cheapest speed a computer will ever get.

SSD Boot Drives

The SSD boot drive is the jump. A machine booting off a spinning hard drive feels five years older than it is — swap the drive and it wakes up.

Dust Control — Blowers & Compressors

Dust is heat, and heat is slow. Blow it out on a schedule — monthly — and the machine runs cool. Buy the blower you recharge, not the can you throw away when it’s “empty.” And you don’t need a big compressor for this work: we’re blowing dust, not building houses or running nail guns.

Shop Vacs — For Machines That Can’t Shut Down

Some systems almost can’t be shut down — they run the business around the clock, and they’ve been collecting dust for years. On those, you don’t blow first. You vacuum the bulk out, then blow what’s left.

Extension Cords — The Safety Pick

A compressor pulls real current. Most businesses will let you run on their plug — but the cord has to handle the draw. An undersized extension cord on a bigger compressor is how you start an electrical fire in somebody else’s building.

Buy it once, buy it right, and maintain it — that’s the whole doctrine. Working on a specific machine and not sure what it takes? Ask me.
